Back on September 26, Greg Swann and Ardell Dellaloggia stunned the Blogosphere by EACH writing 102 blog posts in a day. It was an amazing feat. Perhaps the proverbial record that will never be broken.
Bloggers tend to do weird things. Tino Buntic wrote a blog post that has 2,215 links in it. Every word AND punctuation mark was linked to another blog or website. Another staggering feat.
I've recently "re-engaged" in active AR posting. Mostly because I missed it and all you people, a lot. (And partly because Tony Marriott is hot on my tail to take over the number 1 spot in Arizona).
So I decided to do a "weird blogger thing"... Beginning at Midnight tonight (Mountain Standard Time) I will make an assault on the 24 hour blog commenting record. What's the most comments any blogger has made in 24 hours? I have no earthly idea. I researched it (briefly) and came up with nothing. So I figure, what the heck, I'll see how many comments I can make on Active Rain in a 24 hour period.
Now let it be said that this silly stunt doesn't even compare with what Greg, Ardell and Tino accomplished. Those were interesting. This is just plain nonsense.
Here are my own self-imposed rules:
- No comments like "nice post" are allowed. (unless authorized and encouraged by the primary blogger)
- All comments will be somewhat substantive and provide some thought or opinion. (as judged solely by yours truly)
- I will read (quickly) every post I comment on.
- I reserve the right to stop this madness at any time.
- I reserve the right to drink (whatever) during the world record assault. No drugs, other than caffeine, are allowed.
- Grammar and spelling DO NOT COUNT, though I will make every attempt to spel wright.
To add a little fun to this idiotic thing, let's have a contest! The Rainer that comes closest to guessing the number of comments I make gets a prize. Just post your guess as a comment here. Closest guess (whether you go over or not) gets a one-way link to the site of their choice (real estate related!) on either ThompsonsRealty.com (Google PR4) OR PhoenixRealEstateGuy.com (Google PR5). Both sites are crawled frequently. I'll leave the home page one-way link up for at least 30 days, at which point I may move it to a links page.
The guesses will close at 10:00am tomorrow morning (MST) (I want to give as many people as possible an opportunity to guess). At that time, I'll post a screen shot here showing my number of comments as of 11:59pm tonight. At midnight tomorrow (or sooner if I pass out) I'll post another screen shot of my comment number as evidence of the total number, and unofficial world record, of comments made.

The current count is 593. So I've made 211 comments since Midnight.
For those that guessed less than that, sorry, but YER OUT! Any number above that (well, except maybe the 1,492) is possible, Who knows how long I can go. It comes and goes...

No. I needn't the points. I got past the points a long time ago which is part of the fun. The joke is in not taking the point thing too seriously. Doesn't matter. Carole and I are pretty close, but neither of us is going to catch Maureen anytime soon. Toby is coming up fast, too. It's all good.
My guess is that you will get well past 60. Depending on your methodology you could beat the 400 mark without too much trouble.

I did not understand... I thought Jay was wondering the blogosphere leaving comments. I need to redo my guess... I read his other blog and that's when it sunk in... Jay is remaining in the climate controlled atmosphere of Active Rain while making all the comments.... breaking the world's record. Of course he is.
He's gonna be sick of fruit by the end of the day.

Good luck with your marathon. I'm going to go with 417. I've based this on some stats you posted on Barry's blog which had you running at 10 posts every thirty minutes for the first 2.5 hours. I expect that you'll maintain that for the first twelve hours or so before you start to drop off to around nine per half hour. I gave you a half hour off in each twelve hour period so you can at least grab a sandwich and 1 hour for your daughter's cross-country meet. Please go straight there and back home afterwards. :)
I saw that you commented on my post and I wanted to reciprocate. And then I saw your world record attempt and I am proud to be a part of it. A couple words of advice: keep hydrated, don't go out too quickly, you will cramp up and not be able to finish, if you feel like you can't go on, break it down into smaller goals, baby steps. That's the number of yards (925) minus the number of carries (278) your big time free agent running back has had this year. I was going to add in the TD's (4) and fumbles (3) but since they are almost a wash we'll just stick with 647

Ok, assuming 1 post and comment every 2 minutes, that is 30 comments per hour. 30 times 24 hours per day = 720 comments. now lets thow in an extra 20 comments for the 2 liner posts. Subtract out the time used for potty breaks, eating, stretching, etc. Deduct the time to go back and read our comments that we are leaving on this post. Add back in the second wind that you will get. Oh, and add in the caffiene high and shakes that you get that help you type much fast (figure this kicks in after about the 10h cup which you will probably have in about 30 minutes)... I am going to have to guess that things are pretty slow in Pheonix today. :) Oh, my number is 813.
