CRUSHING the AR Comment Record!

I can safely say I'm crushing the record for most comments entered on Active Rain in one day. Why can I say that? Because I don't think anyone else out there is dumb enough to read and comment on posts for 13 straight hours like I've been doing since midnight! (or at least no one else is dumb enough to admit it!)

As I posted here, I'm on a AR comment marathon. Been going since midnight, plan to go to midnight tonight (save a short break for a kids track meet and to drop off a disclosure...)

Maureen McCabe was nice enough to give me a little energy boost with her post. Thanks Maureen!

Believe me, there is no ulterior motive for doing this. It's certainly not for the points. For Pete's sake, the limit on comment points is 250. There a a LOT easier ways to get points than reading and commenting all day long.

I'm just another nutty blogger. But it sure is helping me catch up on reading AR.

At the 13 hour mark I'm at 273 comments. I'd love to hit 500 in the 24 hour period, but it's going to be rough.

My back is killing me, and my head really hurts.

For results, see "the other blog".

Jay -  You're a STUD! You're an ANIMAL! You've lost your mind!

And yes, this comment counts. After all, it only speaks the truth. :)

Besides, I make the rules.

A world record for blog commenting!

It's 4:59 pm in Phoenix and I see you are at the 312 mark.  Go Jay go!  I think at the very least I'll need to buy you lunch for this effort - I'm starting to feel a little guilty for prompting it (NOT!) - but lunch offer still stands!

Carole - I am still alive and commenting, contrary to the evil rumor that I was in bed.

I'm at 389 comments with 2 hours, 20 minutes to go.

I'm slowing down, feel pretty poorly, but I will never give up.

Ok great! I will ring my budha bell for good things to come, on my way to bed lol  (It's later here after all)

I am SO DONE.

Midnight Dec 14, 2006

Midnight Dec 15, 2006

809 - 381 = 428 comments made in 24 hours. 17.83 comments per hour. Roughly one every 3.3 minutes for 24 hours.

What was I thinking?

You should see my comment log. It goes on like this for pages:

Sorry I couldn't get to the mythical 500 plateau. I'll leave that one for the next poor slob that tries this.

I'll post more later (significantly later). I'm too tired to even figure out the winner of the guessing contest.  If someone wants to volunteer, more power to you.

I learned a LOT, read some GREAT blogs (and some not-so-great), met a TON of new people, got accused of being a spammer. Saw some controversy, welcomed some new folks, re-engaged with some old friends. It was cool. I will not be doing it again, ever.

Wow! Well even though you didn't quite hit your goal that was still quite a run!

Good Job!

I had to come back up and congratulate you; after all that, you still do an intelligent and funny short summary; I can't wait for the long version! PS: Sleep well!

Congrats Jay.  Now get some sleep!

Just saw this Jay, hey even though you didn't hit 500 you sure gave it one heck of a try. I guess you will just hava to try again...LOL.  I hope you got some sleep after all that!!!

What's In a Number?

Wow 428! That is amazing. Now you can use this number in your listing price and you have made a wonderful story to go along. This comment-a -thon now becomes a marketing piece for you.

Hoep you got some rest. I have a feeling you are still reading everything. Thanks for the entertainment!

Jeff Dowler said 427 - That's pretty darn close if you ask me.

CONGRATULATIONS JAY - I can tell from this exercise that you have an addictive personality - and a GOOD one!  I hope you don't experience "comment burnout" so early in your blogging carreer - we would certainly miss you.

Jay, how about giving us a recap of your top 10 favorite comments that you made?  Or your top 5 favorite posts that you read.  Get up now and get blogging.

428 comments... so IF there was NO limit on the number of comments that would awardeded points, then you would have earned 10,700 POINTS!

I'm working on a recap. I'll post it tomorrow (gotta go to the office Christmas party tonight).

It was an interesting experience.

I still feel like crap. I'm too old for stunts like this.

Posted by Jay & Francy Thompson (Thompson's Realty) over 2 years ago
Jay... what a good citizen.  Not for the points, but many of your comments were on blogs that had very few.  I'm sure it made those bloggers feel better knowing someone was reading and cared enough to comment!

I'm sure you must have commented on every blog you read, proving that one can start a conversation from just about anything!
Posted by Carol Williams Wenatchee Real Estate (Willinger Real Estate) over 2 years ago
Wow, I was no where close with my guess.  I had you doing almost twice as much.  Oh, well.  Maybe if I have time one day, I can try to reach that goal...  not.  You can keep the record. :)

Carl -- I was thinking the same thing. Could I do the same thing? :-)
Posted by Toby Boyce, MBA, Delaware Ohio (Keller Williams Consultants Realty) over 2 years ago
I was thinking, WHY would i want to do the same thing? Hmmmmmmm, 1001 blogs=1 blog every 1.43 minutes, or 1 a minute would equal 1440 blogs. Anyone game? Jay if you could have gotten your rate down to 2.87 per minute you would have cracked 500. Hope you had fun. Merry Christmas!

Just have to ask where do you find the time to make that many comments in one day,
