Press Release: ActiveRainaholics Anonymous

PHOENIX (Reuters) - The Phoenix Area Chapter of ActiveRainaholics Anonymous (ARA) has been established under the direction of Jay Thompson.

"My name is Jay, and I'm a raging ActiveRainaholic," is how the President of the Phoenix ARA begins all his conversations.

"ActiveRain has consumed my life. I stay up until 3:00 in the morning. I don't eat. I don't shave, and I rarely bathe. I just sit at a laptop, blogging away on ActiveRain.com all day. I've been know to leap for joy when one of my posts gets awarded a coveted gold star," says Thompson.

"I have performed complex mathematical calculations in an attempt to crack the code that Matt, Ben and Caleb developed for awarding blog points. I want, make that I NEED, 400 point blogs. I live for 400 pointers. My life's purpose is 400 pointers" bemoans Thompson.

Jay's lovely bride Francy says, "I knew the problem with AR had gotten totally out of control when Jay paid no attention to the first NFL game of the season. Instead he sat at his laptop mumbling "Why, WHY didn't that blog get 400 points?!?" It was then that the children and I held an intervention. Either he gets this thing under control, or he hits the highway."

"I love my wife and kids," says Thompson, "but they just don't understand."

In an effort to get his AR problem under control, Thompson has founded the Phoenix Area ARA. He feels that only other ARAs will understand. At the time of this press release, no meeting place has been established. "We need a location with wireless Internet access" says Thompson.

OK Jay, so you've outted me!

My husband's eyes glaze over when I start telling him of my blog ideas. But, it's so much fun!

I put up my Star Trek post today; Tomorrow is an ode to Marshall Fields; later in the month some pictures of downtown Naperville.

I may have to give up real estate at the rate this addiction is taking over.

Jay, I so feel your pain.  I thought I was so cool when I scored to 400 pointers in a row. :) Man, I need to get a life. -Charles

Oooh, 5 minutes - I can check the new AR blogs in that.  Clients 15 minutes late?  Well, it's unscheduled - I'll go to AR. Lunch (when I have it) - I can eat a wrap and type at the same time, it's not taking business time for AR (Right!)

But whether we're online or not, we do know that it's always there. That' why this morning was such a shock!

As to the points - it was touch to see that my Director of Information got 400 points on her very first blog - before I even had one. Now as least I can say I had one, too.

Jay, I agree. They don't understand.

I need those 400 pointers and gold stars.

Your blog would be funny if Lipnitz and I were not sitting 12 inches apart from each other on a Friday night staring into our laptop screens.

I deem this goldstar worthy, because YOU understand my pain.

Damn it... she (Maureen) reads and types faster than I do!  She always beats me to the punch.  You'd think she'd cut me slack, I fed her dinner.
Posted by Sara Lipnitz (SKBK Sotheby's International Realty) over 3 years ago

Sara, you fed me pizza because we no longer have time to cook.  Too much to post.  Too much to read.

Michigan chapter is forming tomorrow.  In the meantime, Lippy and I will but up posting all night.

Ladies: That being Maurenn and Sara I have tried to give away points but AR did not respond to this request. I wish I could give away enough to even the score between the two of you and  watch you start over. That would fun. Roar. Kum La Ka Lakka.

Oh, that would be interesting! I'd be willing to give up a few points to see Maureen, Sara and Josh in a three-way. (Get your minds out of the gutter, you know what I mean.)

There's enough mortgage brokers on here, those folks are used to squeezing points out of everyone. One of them needs to start brokering AR points to redistribute to Sara and Josh!

Hmmmm.... interesting idea... brokering points...  must ponder!

Posted by Jay & Francy Thompson (Thompson's Realty) over 3 years ago

No, No, No, No.  I was all for donating points to get Bonnie Cox out of jail.  I would gladly slide some points over to JP to keep him duking it out with Lipnitz.

But no sharing points with both of them to level off the playing field with me.  It was level once, well nearly.  JP was here before me.  Lipnitz i brought in one week after me.  Let them wrestle for third, or second even.  They can have their fun as long as the leave me alone!  But they won't leave me alone and I know it.

I have been hooked for a long time now.  Maybe a new career would be to help A/R members to not leave A/R but better manage their lives.

Gotta wonder why this post did not get a gold star?

I don't know Maureen. I thought it "gold star worthy", but alas...

However, if YOU think it was worthy, then that's good enough for me!

Do you have any tips on how to avoid becoming an ActiveRainaholic?  Once an ActiveRainaholic, always an ActiveRainaholic.

Suzanne - the best thing is just to admit you have a problem. There is no cure.

Hey-

Are any of you ARaholics still among the living? ... or have you typed your little fingers down to the bone?

Still online but temporarily suffering from withdrawals until the new year.

I appreciate the concern which is been rose. The things need to be sorted out because it is about the individual but it can be with everyone.
